Lewiston plans National Night Out event

The City of Lewiston’s annual “National Night Out,” supported and funded by the Lewiston Police Athletic League, will take place on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Marcotte Park. The purpose of this free “meet your neighbor” event is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send the message that neighborhoods are united.

The event will feature numerous activities and entertainment, including music, Mr. Drew & His Animals Too, an obstacle course, a bounce house, food provided and grilled by Wal-mart employees and municipal vehicles, including the Lewiston Police Department’s rolling tank and robot, for children to enjoy.

Sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, this 32nd annual National Night Out will be celebrated across the country on August 4. NATW is a nonprofit crime prevention organization that works in cooperation with thousands of crime watch groups and law enforcement agencies throughout the country. Since 1981, NATW has been dedicated to developing, growing and maintaining organized crime and drug prevention programs nationwide.
