Shaun “Yaz” Yazbek will compete on “Chopped” on Tuesday, March 1.

Shaun “Yaz” Yazbek will compete on the Food Network reality show “Chopped” next month. Yazbek will compete with three other chefs in an episode titled “Truck Stop Stars,” pitting the four competitors against each other for a $10,000 prize.

The show, now in its 27th season on Food Network, gives four chefs a mystery basket of ingredients, which then must be turned into a dish. The show is broken into three courses: an appetizer, an entrée, and a desert. Chefs are given different mystery ingredients for each course. After each course, one of the chefs is eliminated by the panel of judges who base their results on creativity, presentation, and taste.

Yazbek’s episode has already been recorded, although results must be kept secret until the show airs on March 1. According to the show’s website, some of the foods on the episode will include meatloaf mix, fennel, a purple veggie, a sweet drink, and apple pie.

“Being on Chopped was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure,” said Yazbek. “Trying to make what would amount to award-winning dishes with so many unknowns really allowed for creativity and quick thinking to shine through. It was a lot of fun and something I’ll never forget.”

“It’s amazing to have such a talented chef in Bangor,” said Mary Dysart Hartt, owner of Dysart’s Restaurant. “I have enjoyed watching him in action for the past 22 years. We couldn’t be any prouder of his work and accomplishments.”

“Chopped: Truck Stop Stars” will premiere on Food Network at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1.
