The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club held its annual Awards Night recently at the Ramada Inn of Lewiston, where the inaugural Ethics in Business Award was presented to Jim Wellehan of Lamey Wellehan Shoes. Other nominees for the award included Center Street Dental, Geiger Group, Grant’s Bakery, Community Credit Union, City of Lewiston and Taylor Brook Animal Hospital.
“With seven very respectable businesses nominated, the nomination committee had a tough decision to make,” said L-A Rotary president Shawn Wright. “We have no winners and losers here tonight. The nominees are a great testament to the vibrant business community of Lewiston-Auburn.”

The Ethics in Business Award was developed by the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club in collaboration with Kaplan University. The purpose of the award is to highlight organizations in Lewiston-Auburn whose business models reflect a high ethical standard that mirrors the Four Way Test which is the backbone of Rotary Clubs throughout the world. Nominations for next year’s award will be accepted starting next January.
Awards Night is the culmination of the Rotary Club’s yearlong fundraising efforts. In addition to the Ethics in Business Award, seven $1,000 scholarships were awarded to deserving high school seniors and $8,000 in donations were awarded to local organizations.
The Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club meets every Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. at the Ramada Inn. Anyone is welcome to attend a meeting; no reservations are required, and the price for the buffet lunch is $10.
