St. Dom’s plans Catholic education reunion weekend

As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, Saint Dominic Academy is inviting all students and teachers who attended Catholic elementary and high school in Lewiston, Auburn, or the surrounding area to a grand reunion weekend called “Ministry in Education” on August 13 and 14.

On Saturday, August 13, reunions will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. at Saint Dominic Academy’s Auburn Campus, followed by a special recognition ceremony. On Sunday, August 14, Bishop Robert P. Deeley will celebrate a special Mass at noon at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul in Lewiston. Those planning to attend are asked to RSVP by calling the school office at 782-6911.

The weekend was organized as a way to say “thank you” to the men and women who dedicated their lives to teaching, coaching, and assisting generations of students in Lewiston and Auburn. Since the 19th century, countless educators have shared their talents and knowledge at the area’s numerous Catholic schools, including ones at College of St. Paul, Asylum of Notre Dame of Lourdes, Dominican Block, Healy Asylum for Boys, St. Joseph Orphanage for Girls, Holy Cross, Holy Family, Sacred Heart, St. Bernadette, St. Joseph, St. Louis, St. Mary, St. Patrick, St. Peter, Ave Marie Academy, Cours Superieurs, Our Lady of the Rosary, Trinity Catholic, and St. Dominic High School, now Saint Dominic Academy.
