Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice (AHCH) has announced that Electricity Maine will join Baxter Brewing Company as a major sponsor of the 2013 Hospice House 5K & Remembrance Walk.

“We are pleased to continue our partnership with Baxter Brewing and are very excited that Electricity Maine is joining us,” said AHCH President/CEO Julie Shackley. “Like Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice, they are local Maine companies that share a commitment to supporting the community.”

“We are proud to call Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice one of our non-profit partners,” said Candace Sanborn, Vice President of Marketing for Electricity Maine. “We selected them because of the trusted reputation they’ve built in their service communities, providing quality in-home health and hospice care for area residents.”

“My Mom spent ten amazing days in Hospice House at the end of her life in January 2009,” said Luke Livingston, President/CEO of Baxter Brewing Company, which began sponsoring the event in 2011. “It was her passing that gave me the courage to go out and write the business plan that would eventually become Baxter Brewing. So when the opportunity presented itself to support Hospice House by promoting active, outdoor lifestyles, I jumped at the chance.”

2013 will mark the fifth anniversary of the Hospice House 5k & Remembrance Walk. The event has grown substantially over the years to include three locations and more than 500 participants. This year, events will be held in Farmington on May 5, Oxford Hills on May 18, and Auburn on May 19. All events begin at 9 a.m. The Auburn event will take place at Central Maine Community College. Registration is $20 per person ages 13 and over. There is no fee for children 12 and under.

While there is no required fundraising minimum, participants are encouraged to raise at least $100 each. Proceeds from the event support care at Hospice House for patients who do not have adequate health insurance. The fundraising goal for 2013 is $50,000. Several recognition opportunities will be available for family and company teams reaching designated fundraising levels, including team name on a plaque, team name on a paver lining the Reflection Trail, and recognition on an outdoor bench. All will be located at the Hospice House.

Each participant will be able to tie a ribbon with their loved one’s name on it to the 2013 Memory Wreath. The wreath will travel to each event location and, following the final event in Auburn, will be on display at Hospice House. This year, teams will be able to compete in the best t-shirt contest. Awards will be presented at each event location.

Registration and event details can be found online at www.ahch.org. For information about volunteering or sponsorship opportunities, contact Teri Blaschke at 795-9428 or Teri.Blaschke@ahch.org.
